APL apps on the Universal WIndows Platform

Postby George Loyd » April 1st, 2016, 10:59 am

I’m wondering if APL2000 or any APL users are working with Microsoft on their “Project Centennial”. Microsoft is releasing a number of Windows Bridge toolkits to help bring existing code to Windows 10 and the Windows Store. Among these there is a convert desktop apps toolkit. This is supposed to enable desktop developers to package their existing classic Windows apps as Universal Windows apps to make the apps available on the Universal Windows Platform/Store.
Microsoft is making these bridges available in a limited Developer Preview program. So I wondered if anybody in the APL world was part of that or knew anything about it.

I hadn't heard about that, but it sounds interesting. I like the idea of making APL apps that look like they're written in other languages for modern interfaces.

This does sound interesting. Here's a link to a Microsoft page that talks about "Bring your desktop app to the Universal Windows Platform":

https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/w ... es/desktop

The video is pretty informative.
