A new function for output formatting

Postby Ajay Askoolum » November 1st, 2018, 8:06 am

I find []fmt an ordeal & would welcome a more transparent/easier to use new (because you want to retain backward compatibility) function more in keeping with formatting in C# (or VBA).

As I recall, APL2 provided a dyadic form of ⍕ that took a character vector on the left to perform "picture" formatting. Something like that might be an interesting addition.

I wouldn't want to get rid of ⎕FMT entirely, though - it provides useful capabilities that other options don't have.
