Installing VisualAPL with Vista

Postby joe_blaze » November 19th, 2008, 12:46 am

VisualAPL Installation Path:
When installing VisualAPL on a machine which is running the Microsoft Vista operating system, the installation path for VisualAPL should be modified to a path which does not include '...\program files\...'.

Vista security issues might prevent the proper operation of VisualAPL if it is installed to the '\program files\' subdirectory.

Default .chm (help) Viewer:
In order to properly display the VisualAPL .chm files installed into the VisualAPL '\documentation\' subdirectory, the "Microsoft HTML Help Executable" program should be used. This program may be set as the default program to use when opening a .chm file. See the attached pdf file for details.

Vista: User Account Control (UAC)

Postby joe_blaze » March 12th, 2009, 6:55 pm

When installing the APLNext VisualAPL software on a machine which has the Windows Vista operating system it may be necessary to turn off the Vista UAC. It may also be necessary to perform the installation using an account in the administrator's group.
