Post-Activation Internet Connection Required?

Postby joe_blaze » April 7th, 2009, 11:48 pm

The APLNext Application Server license activation procedure needs to be carried out only when the license term has ended. The license term commences upon the first start-up of the APLNext Application Server by the server administrator. The license term ends after a specified number of days which varies. For the evaluation version the license term is 30 days and for the production version the license term is 365 or more days.

One choice for activation of the APLNext Application Server license is to use an Internet connection from the programmer's machine on which APLNext Application Server is installed and the APLNext Licensing and Activation web server. The Internet connection required is necessary only during the brief activation procedure. Once the APLNext Application Server license is activated using the Internet, APLNext Application Server does not require an active Internet connection to be maintained on the programmer's machine.

If an Internet connection of the type described above is not available, the APLNext Application Server activation can be carried out via telephone or e-mail communication between the programmer and the APLNext Application Server support staff.

Note that the APLNext Application Server product is designed to support 'http://' protocol communications between remote clients and server(s) on which APL+Win and APLNext Application Server are installed. Thus it may be part of the programmer's application system design to maintain an Internet connection to the server machine(s). This is not a post-activation requirement of the APLNext Application Server license.
